BTC WOD 19.11.11

Today, Veterans Day, we are hosting the Three Wise Men Tribute Workout in support of veterans. 🇺🇸

The Tribute workout honors the Wise brothers—Jeremy, Ben and Beau. After September 11th, Jeremy Wise joined the Navy and became a SEAL. Ben Wise joined the Army and was a member of Green Berets. Beau Wise is an infantry Marine. Tragically, we lost Jeremy and Ben while they were serving in Afghanistan, leaving Beau as the only surviving brother. Jeremy and Ben represent that generation of veterans who gave that “last full measure of devotion”. Beau Wise represents that generation of veterans who survived combat and who we now stand with to help them survive the peace.

The numbers are staggering: Over 300,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans report symptoms of PTSD. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) estimates we lose 18 veterans a day to suicide and the Department of Defense reports 30-50 active duty troops take their lives every month. Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are at particular risk. It has been estimated that for every troop we have lost in combat this year, 25-30 take their own lives.
